Les Pourciaux - Self catering accommodation set in a peaceful
location in Alderney's green belt with spectacular views over Fort Raz (pictured
above) and Longis Bay.
The island of Alderney is the northernmost Channel Island, located only 9 miles
from the coast of France at its eastern tip, and 60 Miles south of the Isle of
Wight. Once you arrive you will discover a little gem of a place and you will
wonder why you have never been to this precious place before! Beautiful
unspoiled beaches with crystal clear turquoise waters, a rugged coastline with
over 50 miles of footpaths, glorious sunsets, a myriad of bars, cafes and
restaurants and the uniqueness of this friendly island community are just some
of the things that will be here waiting for you.
At only 3.5 x 1.5m the island is the perfect size - small enough to explore at
your leisure and yet large enough to enjoy being in your own little paradise.
Find a quiet spot, take in the sea view and listen to the birds – it doesn’t get
more peaceful and relaxing than this.
This self catering cottage at Les Pourciaux, Alderney is
situated on Longis Common directly opposite the beach. The cottage is attached
to the main house but has its own entrance on the ground floor. From the
entrance hall a spiral staircase leads up to a good sized open plan
kitchen/living/dining room with stunning views of Fort Raz, Longis bay and Essex
Hill.
Off the ground floor hallway is the first of the two bedrooms, with a double bed
and en suite shower room. The second double bedroom lies off the living area
and also has the same lovely view of Longis bay. There is also a second
bathroom with freestanding bath.
Outside there is parking and the cottage has its own outdoor furniture and
seating area. A private picnic area for cottage guests is situated on higher
ground and also offers superb views over Longis Bay.
The beautiful Longis beach is literally a stone's throw away - at the end of the
garden. The town of St Annes is about 1.5 miles away - 5 minutes by car and about
a 35-45 min walk depending upon the route you take and your pace!
For your use the cottage has the following...
TV (with Sky freeview), Radio/CD player, DVD player, washing machine, iron and
ironing board, oven, microwave, garden BBQ, wood burning stove, hair dryer, stair
gate if required
When on the island transport is not a necessity as everywhere can be reached on foot. However, Les Pourciaux Cottage is at the eastern end of the island and is therefore about 1.8m out of the centre of town, about a 45 minute walk. You may therefore choose to rent a car or hire bikes whilst on the island and there is space for parking at the cottage. Taxis can also be hired.
If your idea of great nightlife is to go to the hippest new
venue with hundreds of other people, sip the newest cocktail, dance the night
away to the latest dance sounds, then…..don’t come to Alderney!
If however, your ideal evening on holiday is to head back home from a lazy day
on the beach, crack open a bottle of something, sit listening to the sea rushing
over the pebbles on the beach nearby while the birds twitter and flutter around
you, enjoy the wonderful sunset and then light your barbeque and cook a fish you
have caught yourself …then a holiday at Les Pourciaux Cottage will be just up
your street!
If you feel the need and time it right, there are occasional discos put on
throughout the year to support various island causes. You will usually find
notices of these in shop windows and notice boards. Also, particular to Alderney
there are 'Quarry' parties and 'Bunker' parties which happen in high summer and
are an experience in themselves!
